Hawaii: So Much to Do, So Little Time
Wed, 09/09/2009 - 08:24
There are so many things to do in Hawaii. Go to Waikiki, relax at the beach or surf, yes, but venture out, too. You won't regret it! Here are just a few ideas. All of these locations have websites, so check them out to learn more details including days and hours of operation.
Hanauma Bay
This popular tourist destination gets crowded, best advice - plan to get there early, really early, and plan on going snorkeling. Clear waters and an abundance of colorful fish make this a perfect snorkeling spot. If you take the advice and arrive early you will beat the heat, crowds, and find parking (very hard to do later on). It is possible to rent snorkeling gear in advance for not very much money from various shops, or if you want you can rent equipment at the bay.
Kualoa Ranch
This 4000 acre ranch near Chinaman's Hat, or Mokoli'i Island, is owned and operated by descendants of one of the early missionary couples. Several tours of the ranch, a popular location with filmmakers, are offered, including horseback riding and ATV (All Terrain Vehicle).
Lyon Arboretum
Deep in the Manoa Valley, is Lyon Arboretum. An arboretum is a tree park. This breathtaking location is that, but they have also added many other plant collections, including orchids and bromeliads. Visitors may hike through the grounds on their own, they only ask that you sign-in first. There are also tours and a variety of classes offered if you plan ahead.
